About
the President
Upon coming out of
Auction School in 1989, Rick started Capital Auctioneering Services Limited.
Rick operated Capital Auctioneering for 11 years, starting with 1,500 square
feet and expanding to over 10,000 square feet. Sales were run between two
and five times weekly. Items sold included restaurant equipment, office
equipment, estates and miscellaneous items. In May of 1997 Rick sold the
venture.
In September of
1998, Rick took on the role of manager for a new business called Golden
Gavel Auctions — operating in a 3,000 square foot shop. With the success of
Golden Gavel, the company moved to 14,000 square foot location and the owner
sold the firm in September of 1999.
Rick is
currently doing freelance auctioneering and is also a certified appraiser.
Rick was an instructor at the Auctioneering Institute of Canada and
International School of Auctioneering before purchasing the Auctioneering
Institute of Canada.
Rick was a Director on the Board for the Auctioneers Association of
Alberta and held the position for six years.
