About the President
Upon coming out of Auction School in 1989, Rick started Capital Auctioneering Services Limited. Rick operated Capital Auctioneering for 11 years, starting with 1,500 square feet and expanding to over 10,000 square feet. Sales were run between two and five times weekly. Items sold included restaurant equipment, office equipment, estates and miscellaneous items. In May of 1997 Rick sold the venture.
In September of 1998, Rick took on the role of manager for a new business called Golden Gavel Auctions operating in a 3,000 square foot shop. With the success of Golden Gavel, the company moved to 14,000 square foot location and the owner sold the firm in September of 1999.
Rick is currently doing freelance auctioneering and is also a certified appraiser. Rick was an instructor at the Auctioneering Institute of Canada and International School of Auctioneering before purchasing the Auctioneering Institute of Canada. Rick was a Director on the Board for the Auctioneers Association of Alberta and held the position for six years.
About the School
We are the oldest registered auction school in Canada. This is an accredited school, which means that we have the approval of the government as an "Academic Training College." We are an accredited auctioneering training facility approved by Servus Alberta and recognized by the Auctioneers Association of Alberta. You must have a diploma through an accredited school in order to auction, and "We are that School". The well-trained auctioneer is always in demand.

To obtain a diploma, a test is required; this is a test of the student's auctioneering skills. Your test will be a sale to the public. There is a "live auction" and a written test. WARNING : Many schools claim to teach the same, but the result is in the finished product and we have finished product to prove the superior teaching methods we have developed over the years.
